Frequently Asked Questions

What schooling is involved to become a real estate associate?
To get a North Carolina Real Estate license you must complete a 75 hour Broker’s Fundamental Real Estate Course. There are two schools in our area.  For more information, contact Pamela Kulsa Smith atcareers@seasiderealty.com.

What expenses are involved in becoming a real estate associate?
Between $400-$425 for the 75 Hour Brokers Fundamental Course, along with the cost of the State Exam, $350 to $475 Annual Board Dues, $35 to $43 Monthly MLS Dues.  Other expense include: Laptop, Printer, Smart Phone, and Camera.

Should I have some money in savings before starting?
Yes! On average, it takes a new agent three to six months to have their first closing. Even if you sold a home on your 1st day, the average time to settlement is 45 days.

What training is available at CBSR?
We are committed to your success and offer our exclusive Success Center Training for new agents.  In addition, new agents are required to attend the Coldwell Banker e-Fast Start training, an online training course that will introduce you to all the tools & resources available to Coldwell Banker Sales Associates.   Our agents also have 24-7 access to CBWorks which includes online training, webinars, podcasts and the award winning Coldwell Banker University.

Does the company supply leads to their agents?
As your Business Partner, we have multiple lead generation tools that you will benefit from. We are also the only Company on the Outer Banks to have its own Business Development Center, a lead generation and referral department, which generates valid, scrubbed leads for our agents. However, the key to an agents success is to prospect for business on a regular basis.  We will teach you how to do this!
